Weatherization Training Available to You
BPI Building Science Principles (Phase 1), a course per DOE NREL JTA Energy Auditor - Certification Testing for JTA Energy Auditor
Gain the knowledge you need to be successful as a home performance professional or energy auditor. During this introductory course, you'll learn how the systems in a home work together to affect energy use, thermal comfort, and indoor air quality.
To earn this certificate, you simply have to pass a 100-question multiple choice exam with a score of at least 70%.
BPI Building Analyst Professional (Phase 2), a course per DOE NREL JTA Energy Auditor - Certification Testing for JTA Energy Auditor
A Building Analyst Professional (BA-P) conducts a series of diagnostic tests, collects home performance data, and uses energy modeling software to model the energy upgrade potential of a home and to develop a scope of work. BA-P professionals use the data collected from diagnostic tests to determine how a homeowner can improve the energy efficiency of their home, lower their energy bills, and create a healthier/safer space.
To earn this certification, you must pass a proctored written exam. There is no field exam for this credential. This credential has prerequisites.
HEP Energy Auditor (Phase 3), a course per DOE NREL JTA Energy Auditor - Certification Testing for JTA Energy Auditor
Offered by the Building Performance Institute and supported by the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the Home Energy Professional (HEP) Energy Auditor Certification is one of the industry's highest credentials for home energy auditing.
To earn this certification, you must pass a multiple-choice written exam and a hands-on practical exam. This credential has prerequisites.
This course is approved for 9.5 BPI CEUs.
HEP Quality Control Inspector
A quality control inspector (QCI) is a residential energy efficiency professional who ensures the completion, appropriateness, and quality of energy upgrade work by conducting a methodological audit/inspection of the building, which includes performing safety and diagnostic tests and observing the work.
To earn this certification, you must pass a 50-question, multiple-choice exam. This credential has prerequisites.
This course is approved for 3.88 BPI CEUs.
Multifamily Building Analyst
The BPI Multifamily Building Analyst Certification is for professionals who work with multifamily buildings to improve their energy efficiency, comfort, and safety. This certification focuses on the unique characteristics and challenges associated with multifamily buildings, such as their varied occupancy, multiple units, and complex systems.
To earn this certification, you will need to pass a written exam and a simulation exam.
This course is approved for 4 BPI CEUs.
Retrofit Installer Technician
A Retrofit Installer Technician is a specialized professional who focuses on implementing energy-efficient upgrades and retrofits in residential and commercial buildings. These technicians play a crucial role in improving building performance by installing and ensuring the proper functioning of various energy-saving measures.
Crew Leader
A Crew Leader is someone who leads weatherization and home energy upgrade projects. This training encompasses project planning, quality control, safety protocols, and effective communication with team members and clients.
HVAC/Mechanical Systems Training
This provides in-depth knowledge and practical skills for designing, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The training covers the principles of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer as they relate to HVAC systems. Participants learn about the various components of HVAC systems, including furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, and ventilation systems, as well as the latest technologies and energy-efficient practices.
Lead RRP
The Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) training program is a federal requirement administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) aimed at protecting individuals, particularly children, from lead-based paint hazards during renovation, repair, and painting activities. This program ensures that workers are trained to follow lead-safe work practices to minimize exposure to lead dust and debris.
The RRP Lead Safe Certified Renovator (Initial) course is approved for 6 BPI CEUs. The RRP Lead Safe Certified Renovator (Refresher) course is approved for 2.5 BPI CEUs.
OSHA 10 (English & Spanish)
The OSHA 10 Construction Safety Training is a fundamental safety training program developed by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in the United States. It is designed to provide entry-level construction workers with essential knowledge about workplace safety and health hazards, ensuring they understand how to prevent accidents and injuries on the job.
Energy Modeling
Key topics of this course include building science fundamentals, energy modeling software, data collection, creating and analyzing energy models, interpreting results, and regulatory compliance. Professionals learn to run simulations, conduct cost-benefit analyses, generate reports, and communicate findings effectively
Asbestos Awareness
This course covers the essential information that workers need to understand about asbestos, including its properties, types, and common uses in building materials. The course educates participants on the health risks associated with asbestos exposure, such as asbestosis, lung cancer, and mesothelioma. It provides guidance on how to recognize asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) in the workplace and the procedures to follow if ACMs are encountered. The course also covers regulatory requirements, such as OSHA and EPA standards, and emphasizes the importance of proper safety measures, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices, to minimize exposure and ensure compliance with legal standards.
This course is approved for 1 BPI CEU.
