Pre Apprenticeship QC Shadowing Program

This program allows for pre-apprenticeship trainees to shadow an Everblue Quality Control Technician on field inspections and receive documented On-the-Job Training (OJT) hours.

Trainees observe on-site QC inspections of completed installations, photo documentation, measure verification against scope of work, and contractor coaching building field experience.

North Carolina needs more qualified Quality Control technicians to support the growing volume of HOMES and HEAR rebate program inspections across the state.

This shadowing removes a major barrier to entry by giving pre-apprenticeship trainees hands-on field experience and OJT hours, plus gas card support to help offset travel costs to shadow days.

What do I need to do before my first shadow day?

Complete and sign all three required forms: the Liability & Site Access Waiver, the Transportation & Gas Card Agreement, and the Media/Photo Release.

How do I sign up for QC jobs?

Sign up by the posted deadline. You may hold sign-ups for no more than 2 upcoming jobs at a time so opportunities stay available to the rest of the cohort.

What should I wear, and where do I go?

Arrive on time at the posted meet location. Appropriate attire means closed-toed shoes, long pants, and a shirt with no logo.

What am I allowed to do on-site?

You are an observer only. Do not operate equipment, enter attics, or touch installed measures.

How should I conduct myself in occupied homes?

Be professional and courteous at all times. Don't take photos of residents or personal property on personal devices, and don't discuss findings with the homeowner or contractor.

How do I log my hours?

Log your OJT hours the same day on the Hours Log tab. Hours aren't credited until they're verified by the QC Technician and approved by the Coordinator.

Can I use the gas card for anything other than fuel?

No, gas cards are for fuel use only.

What if I can't make a scheduled shadow day?

Cancel as early as possible. Two no-shows will pause your shadowing privileges pending a meeting with the Coordinator.
