Air Sealing Fundamentals and Field Application

Knowing where air leaks isn't enough. This course teaches you how to seal it — with the right materials, in the right locations, in the right order.

Two full days of classroom instruction, guided labs, and extended field application built around one goal: air sealing that actually performs.

WHY TAKE AIR SEALING FUNDAMENTALS AND FIELD APPLICATION TRAINING

Benefits of Air Sealing Fundamentals and Field Application Certification

Most air sealing problems aren't caused by crews who don't care — they're caused by crews who weren't trained on technique, sequencing, and verification. This course closes that gap with two days of hands-on work in real buildings.

Learn How to Seal, Not Just What to Seal

This course goes beyond identifying leakage locations. You'll select the right material for each application, apply it correctly under real conditions, and build air barriers that hold up.

Use the Blower Door to Guide and Verify Your Work

Run pre- and post-sealing tests to see what your work is actually accomplishing. Learn to use blower door feedback in real time during sealing and understand diminishing returns.

Build QA/QC Skills That Reduce Callbacks

Spot missed bypasses, poor material application, and safety concerns before they become callbacks. Walk out with the workflow and documentation habits that support program compliance.

"We've had guys on our crew doing air sealing for years, but nobody had ever shown them how to think about sequencing or how to use the blower door to check their own work."

- Miguel Diaz

HOW IT WORKS

How to Complete the Air Sealing Fundamentals Course

You can get a Air Sealing Fundamentals Certification in just three steps!

1. Take Our Course

Day 1 is a full day of building science instruction covering the four mechanisms of moisture movement — capillary action, diffusion, hydrostatic pressure, and bulk water.

2. Apply Learned Skills

Teams conduct blower door tests, build priority work scopes, execute air sealing, track improvements, and then inspect each other's work. A final blower door validation compares pre- and post-sealing results and drives a group debrief on what worked and what didn't.
