Everblue’s Multifamily Energy Auditor Training Approved for DOE Energy Skilled Recognition

Recognition underscores the importance of multifamily buildings in the clean energy workforce and reinforces Everblue’s commitment to practical, job-ready training.

Everblue announced today that its Multifamily Energy Auditor Training has been officially approved for U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Skilled Recognition, a national designation that identifies high-quality training programs aligned with DOE-defined workforce skill standards for the clean energy economy.

DOE Energy Skilled Recognition highlights training programs that equip workers with the knowledge and competencies needed to perform energy efficiency and clean energy jobs effectively. Everblue’s Multifamily Energy Auditor Training now joins a growing list of recognized programs that meet these standards, helping to ensure the workforce is prepared to deliver measurable energy savings in real-world building environments.

“This recognition matters because multifamily buildings matter,” said Chris Boggiano, president of Everblue. “A huge portion of the U.S. housing stock is multifamily, yet the sector is often treated as an afterthought in energy efficiency conversations. By acknowledging multifamily-specific skills, DOE is helping elevate the expertise required to do this work right—and we’re proud that Everblue’s training is part of that effort.”

Multifamily buildings present unique challenges and opportunities, from complex mechanical systems to tenant coordination and owner-operator dynamics. Everblue’s Multifamily Energy Auditor Training is designed to address these realities head-on, preparing auditors to assess energy performance, identify cost-effective improvements and support programs that reduce energy burden for residents while meeting regulatory and funding requirements.

DOE Energy Skilled Recognition signals to employers, program administrators and policymakers that Everblue’s training aligns with nationally recognized skill expectations for energy efficiency professionals. It also helps trainees and organizations identify workforce development pathways that support federal and state clean energy initiatives, including large-scale building decarbonization and retrofit programs.

“Energy efficiency isn’t just about single-family homes,” Boggiano added. “If we’re serious about reducing emissions, lowering energy costs and improving housing quality, multifamily buildings have to be front and center. This recognition reinforces that reality and helps build a workforce ready to meet it.”
