Everblue, a veteran-owned leader in workforce development and energy efficiency training, announced today an expanded partnership with the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) to launch a Weatherization Pre-Apprenticeship Program aimed at preparing Georgia residents for high-demand careers in energy efficiency and home weatherization.
This innovative workforce development initiative addresses Georgia’s growing need for skilled weatherization professionals. The program offers short-term, rapid training opportunities that provide direct pathways to employment within the state’s Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) network.
“We’re honored to partner with GEFA to build a stronger, more resilient energy workforce in Georgia,” said Velvet Nelson, Director of Business Development at Everblue. “This pre-apprenticeship program creates real, tangible career pathways while helping local families make their homes more energy efficient. It’s a win for the workforce, for communities, and for the environment.”
Participants in the Weatherization Pre-Apprenticeship Program will receive hands-on technical training, career counseling, and industry-recognized certifications, including courses such as BPI Building Analyst and Retrofit Installer Technician. Upon completion, graduates will have access to job placement opportunities with local weatherization agencies – Everblue anticipates at least 70% job placement after graduation.
The hybrid training model, delivered both online and in-person through Everblue’s Learning Management System, ensures accessibility for participants across the state. Wraparound support services such as childcare, transportation supplements, and job-readiness workshops further remove barriers to success – particularly for residents from disadvantaged communities.
