Who is this class intended for?
Will this course be the certification I need to do a Blower Door and/or Duct Leakage test?
What energy auditing equipment will I need?
If you register for our blended format, we will provide all equipment for the training and testing. If you register for the online (self-paced) format, you will need to buy, borrow, or rent the following equipment:
- Blower door
- Duct blaster
- Manometer (comes with blower door or duct blaster kit)
When you register for this course, you will automatically receive energy auditing equipment discounts from leading equipment manufacturers, such as Retrotec and TruTech Tools.
Is the exam included with this course?
Yes. If you take the blended version of the course, you'll complete your field exam at the end of the course.
If you took the online version of the course, you will need to find a home that meets the BPI Standard, obtain the required field equipment, and contact us to proctor your exam when you're ready.
If I register for the online format, how is the field exam conducted?
You will need to buy, borrow, or rent the necessary equipment in order to perform the field exam from home. We use free video streaming software (Zoom) to remotely proctor you. There's a section inside the course where you'll schedule the day/time that you want to do the exam, and we'll proctor you in real time as you go through the exam.
How is this course different from BPI Building Analyst?
How soon after taking my exam will I be certified?
We are required to submit your field exam score to BPI within 24 hours. BPI will ultimately determine whether or not you passed the exam and will share your certification status in their online candidate portal. BPI will mail out a paper certificate and ID card, within 4-6 weeks after certification is awarded. However, you may begin work functions immediately after you confirm your certification status online.
